AIBA boks-akademija u Hrvatskoj?

Hrvatska se nalazi među četiri zemlje kandidata u Europi za otvaranje prestižne boksačke akademije pod AIBA-om.

Uz Hrvatsku, zemlje kandidati su Španjolska, Rusija i Azebejdžan, što dovoljno govori o značaju jedne takve institucije.

Hrvatski grad kandidat je Pula, grad velike boksačke tradicije, što je prepoznato i od HBS-a i od gradonačelnika gospodina Borisa Miletića, koji zajedno poduzimaju sve da bi Pula dobila jedno takvo prestižno boksačko središte.



Boksačka akademija AIBA-e središte je za školovanje, razvoj, rad te razmjenu znanja i iskustava svih u boksačkom svijetu; trenera, sudaca, te boksača u svim dobnim skupinama i kategorijama.

Ukoliko Hrvatska i Pula uspiju, i AIBA smjesti akademiju u Puli, bio bi to veliki zamašnjak za hrvatski boks i prilika da se hrvatski boks vine u sam europski i svjetski vrh.

Cage Rage 25

Najpoznatija britanska MMA organizacija Cage Rage ove subote u Londonu održava svoju 25. priredbu.

U središnjoj borbi večeri UFC i PRIDE veteran Ken Shamrock nastupit će protiv domaćeg borca Roberta Berryja .

Zanimljivi bi trebali biti i okršaji između Brazilca Jeana Silve i Japanca Imanarija , te kickboksača Garyja Turnera i hrvača Mustaphe al Turka .

U akciji će biti i Zelgov suborac John "White Mike Tyson" Phillips , koji iza sebe ima i dva nastupa u Hrvatskoj.

EVANS STEPS IN TO FACE LIDDELL

“Ultimate Fighter” season 2 winner, Rashad Evans, has signed on to face Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell as the main event of the upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship show in London on June 7th as confirmed to MMAWeekly.com this evening.

Liddell was slated to face former Pride champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, but the Brazilian had to drop out do to a recurring knee injury that requires surgery that will keep him out of the bout.

Evans has long been rumored to face Brazilian light heavyweight Thiago Silva as a part of the May 24 card featuring B.J. Penn vs. Sean Sherk as the main event. Now Evans will step in to face Liddell.

Liddell is coming off of one of the biggest wins of his career…a unanimous decision over Wanderlei Silva at UFC 79.

After going to a draw with Tito Ortiz at UFC 73, Evans returned to headline UFC 78 in New Jersey pulling out a split decision win over England’s Michael Bisping.

Following the announcement, MMAWeekly.com was able to reach Evans who will make an appearance on MMAWeekly Radio Thursday night at 9pm EST/6pm PST to talk about the fight.

LIDDELL VS. EVANS ANNOUNCED FOR UFC 85

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Thursday officially announced that Rashad Evans will replace injured Brazilian Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the main event of UFC 85 on June 7 in London.

The main event had been scheduled to feature a showdown between former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell and Rua, a former Pride Fighting Championships Grand Prix champion. Rua, however, re-injured his knee and is expected to have surgery on it this weekend.

Liddell, returning from a decisive performance en route to a unanimous decision victory over Wanderlei Silva at UFC 79 in December, will now face Evans. A member of the popular Greg Jackson-trained fight team in Albuquerque, N.M., Evans is also the winner of the heavyweight competition on the second season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series.

“Chuck showed in his last fight against Wanderlei Silva that he’s regained the fire he needs to win back the UFC light heavyweight title,” said UFC president Dana White. “But to earn that opportunity he now has to do what no one else has been able to do, and that’s defeat Rashad Evans.”

“I'm real excited about fighting in London,” Liddell said. “Rashad is a difficult challenge for me, he’s getting better with every fight. He’s unbeaten and he doesn't know how to lose - but I always go in expecting a knockout.”

Evans, however, didn’t flinch at taking the fight with Liddell.

“I had no hesitation taking this fight,” he said. “Liddell is a legend but I think I am the best and the only way to prove that is to fight and beat the best.”

The promotion also announced for UFC 85 at the O2 Arena was a heavyweight bout between MMAWeekly.com No. 7 ranked Fabricio Werdum and rising star Brandon Vera.

Expected to be on the fight card, but not yet announced, is a bout between the returning Martin Kampmann and Jorge Rivera, and the participation of No. 10 ranked welterweight Marcus Davis.


Fedor Splits With M-1?

ESPN learned that love between M-1 Global and Fedor Emelianenko will end within the next week, making the Russian heavyweight a free agent again. According to Fedor's manager Apy Echteld, the world's best heavyweight will no longer be under the M-1 roof sometime next week, which brings a broad array of interesting possibilities to the spotlight again.

Is Fedor's management willing to engage into a new set of negotiations with UFC? Apparently yes, according to Echteld: “We’re open to a discussion [with UFC]. If everybody is willing to put a little wine in the water, then we have something to work with. There is space for this to happen.” Randy is is embroiled in a legal dispute with the UFC, however, bringing Fedor on board to fight Randy in the cage would probably result in a quick settlement.

It’s easy to smell the opportunity in this match-up, that could be the most anticipated match-up in the history of MMA. Having Fedor walking around as a free agent, Dana White is not missing this train: “People think he's the best—I don't, not even close. But if it's somehow possible, I would make it happen.”

"I like Randy, I genuinely like to think he's a good guy," White says. "As much as we've gone back and forth on this, I would sign Fedor and do everything possible to get Randy in the octagon with him. I'd do anything, because a., it's a great fight and b., I think Randy would smash Fedor." Both Randy and Fedor want to do it. Dana White wants to see it. Millions of fans around the world are willing to pay to see this mega-main event. There are millions of reasons to do it.

Najbolji europski kadeti u Dubravi

Ove subote i nedjelje 8. i 9. ožujka u Sportskoj dvorani u Dubravi (Zagreb) održava se European Judo Union turnir A-kategorije za kadetkinje i kadete.

Natjecanja počinju oba dana u 10 sati, a finalni dvoboji po kategorijama na rasporedu su u subotu u 19 sati, a u nedjelju u 17 sati.

U ponedjeljak i utorak (10./11.03.) u istoj će dvorani biti održani trening-kamp za sudionike turnira i druge zainteresirane.

Iron Ring

Američka TV postaja BET (Black Entertainment Television) uskoro pokreće emisiju "Iron Ring" , u kojoj će zvijezde iz svijeta filma, glazbe i sporta voditi svoje borce u MMA borbama.

Svaka od zvijezda upravljat će timom od nekoliko boraca koji će se boriti za glavnu nagradu od 100,000 američkih dolara.

"Iron Ring" su osmislili TV producenti McClaren i Isaacs , kreatori popularnog UFC-jevog reality showa "The Ultimate Fighter" . Premijera prve epizode zakazana je za 18. ožujak . Hip-hoperi Ludacris , Nelly i Lil John , te boksač Floyd Mayweather Jr. samo su neki od superstarova koji će dobiti uloge MMA trenera.

Voditelji i borci biti će afričko-američkog i hispanskog podrijetla, budući da je BET televizija posvećena upravo tim etničkim skupinama.

MMA legenda Ken Shamrock sinoć je u Londonu teško poražen od domaćeg borca Roberta Berryja . UFC i PRIDE veteran nije dočekao kraj 1. runde, nokautiran je za 3 i pol minute.

Na istoj priredbi nastupio je i Shamrockov sin Ryan , koji u prvoj rundi slomio ruku te je morao predati meč.

Uistinu crna noć za borce iz obitelji Shamrock.
