Lotto scam je tip prijevare u kojem se tvrdi da ste dobili veliki dobitak na medunarodnoj lutriji. Dobitak je, prema autoru, potrebno drzati u tajnosti zbog sigurnosnih razloga. Ukoliko odgovorite na poruku autor ce, prije ili kasnije, od vas zatraziti da platite neki trosak kako bi mogao izvesti novcanu transakciju. To je ujedno i pravi cilj poruke, od primatelja poruke iznuditi novac kako bi se omogucila navedena novcana transakcija. Naravno da obecanoga novca nema, a primatelj jedino moze izgubiti novac ako se javi na ovakve ponude. Hrvatski mediji i policija su upozorili na opasnost ovih poruka, pa se svim osobama koje prime poruku savjetuje da ne kontaktiraju posiljatelja.
