Report: Aquilani Set To Stay At Roma

Amid conflicting reports, Il Messaggero now claims that Alberto Aquilani will pledge his future to Roma and sign a new contract, providing the club can guarantee he will be a key part of coach Luciano Spalletti's plans.

Aquilani’s future at Roma has been looking increasingly uncertain in recent weeks due to problems over the renewal of his contract.

The 24-year-old’s current deal runs out in 2010 and the player has been asking for around €2.5m in wages per year in order to sign an extension.

However, so far the highest offer Roma have been able to muster is €1.6m, and this has led to intense speculation that Aquilani will quit the club.

The midfielder is not short of options as both Juventus and Inter are very keen, and the player has thanked both clubs for their interest in him.

However, Il Messaggero now claims that Aquilani will pledge his future to Roma, providing the club can guarantee that he will be a key part of coach Luciano Spalletti's plans from this season onwards.

The idea is for Roma director Daniele Prade to meet with Aquilani’s representatives next week where the new contract will hopefully be signed, sealed and delivered.

Roma službeno zatražila Mutua od Fiorentine

Tjednima se nagađalo, a u utorak je Fiorentina dobila prvu službenu ponudu za rumunjskog reprezentativca Adriana Mutua...

Govorilo se kako Rumunja žele Bayern i Barcelona, naknadno se u priču uključila i Roma, a iz Fiorentine su izvjestili kako je tek sada rimski klub poslao službenu ponudu.

Makar niti iz Firenze, niti iz Rome nisu spominjali cifru, talijanski tisak je otkrio kako je riječ o 20 milijuna eura.

- Nogomet nije igra i tek sada službeno mogu reći kako je netko tražio Mutua. Logično je da se nađemo s predstavnicima Rome i popričamo o svemu. Ne znamo još ništa, pametniji ćemo biti kada vidimo tko što želi i možemo li sve dogovoriti - rekao je Pantaleo Corvino, sportski direktor Fiorentine.

Mexes in carjack nightmare

Roma defender Philippe Mexes is recovering from a terrifying ordeal after armed robbers stole his car with his young daughter in the back seat.

The French international returned to his home in Axa-Casal Palocco with his family at 11.50pm last night after eating out in Rome.

But just after wife Carla and four-year-old son Enzo got out of the car, two armed men confronted the Giallorossi ace.

After a scuffle, the thieves escaped with Mexes’ Mercedes, unaware that his two-year-old daughter Eva was still asleep in the back seat.

Mexes immediately called the police and a desperate search began for the car in the surrounding area.

Fortunately, the vehicle was found abandoned in Piazza Eschilo in Rome with Eva unharmed and a relieved Mexes was reunited with his daughter.

Talijanski mediji kalkuliraju o mogućnosti da nogometaše Rome pojača jedan od dvojice Bayernovih napadača: Lukas Podolski ili Miroslav Klose...

Jednoga od njih dvojice Rimljani bi mogli angažirati iz jednostavnog razloga što bavarski klub nastoji u svoje redove privoljeti napadača Stuttgarta Marija Gomeza. Ukoliko im to uspije, jedan će napadač u Klinsmannovoj momčadi svakako postati višak, piše Corriere dello Sport.

I sam trener Bayerna izjavio je da ne želi u momčadi imati četiri napadačke zvijezde jer da su mu tri sasvim dovoljne.

Talijani pretpostavljaju da bi Bavarci prije pustili 23-godišnjeg Podolskog negoli 30-godišnjeg Klosea. Ukoliko bi se Klinsmann ipak opredijelio za mlađeg napadača, na Olimpicu bi mogao završiti najbolji strijelac njemačke reprezentacije među aktivnim igračima, koji je za "elf" zabio 41 gol u 81 nastupu.

Cisse u Romi?
ROMA cijeloga ljeta traži pravog napadača, a čini se da je izbor pao na Djibrila Cissea koji bi, prema pisanju talijanskih medija, mogao uskoro potpisati ugovor.

Djibril Cisse će biti novo pojačanje Rome, pišu talijanski mediji već danima. Transfer je težak oko sedam milijuna eura.

Sam Cisse želi otići iz Marseillea nakon sukoba s predsjednikom Papom Dioufom.

Trener Rome Luciano Spalletti želi baš njega zbog toga što mu treba jedan brz napadač koji bi se odlično uklopio u stil igre njegove ekipe.

26-godišnji Cisse je imao velikih problema s ozljedama, međutim prošle se sezone vratio u dobru formu postigavši 15 pogodaka.

Osim Cissea Rimljani planiraju ovoga ljeta kupiti još jednog vrhunskog igrača, za sada im je propao pokušaj dovođenja Adriana Mutua.

Agent: Roma made Villa bid

The agent of Spanish international striking star David Villa claims that Roma have tabled a bid for his client.

Villa was one of the stars of Spain’s Euro 2008 triumph and could be the answer to the Giallorossi’s striker search.

The capital club have missed out on Adrian Mutu and been snubbed by Julio Baptista and Djibril Cissé.

And now Villa’s representative has revealed that the Lupi have already made an approach for the highly rated hitman.

“I have had no contact with Roma,” Julio Llorente said to Laromasiamonoi.it. “But I know that the Giallorossi have made an offer to Valencia.

“I don’t know any of the terms of the proposal. However, I can confirm that an approach was made.”

Silva would be expected to fetch a fee of at least £18m – the same sum that Roma unsuccessfully put on the table for Mutu.

Roma inzistira na dovođenju Yossija Benayouna

IZRAELSKI nogometaš Liverpoola Yossi Benayoun i dalje ostaje velika želja trenera Rome Luciana Spalettija.

Interes za 28-godišnjeg ofenzivnog veznjaka pokazali su i Manchester City i West Ham, ali Roma je zasad ipak najupornija.

"Moja želja za novu sezonu su još dva pojačanja. Jedno od ta dva pojačanja svakako je Benyoun", izjavio je Spaletti.

Benayoun je stigao na Anfield 2007. godine iz West Hama, te je upisao petnaest nastupa u prvih jedanaest u Premiershipu prošle sezone.

Iako je Izraelac izrazio želju za ostankom na Anfieldu, engleski mediji pišu da ga je trener Rafa Benitez spreman prodati kako bi prikupio sredstva za zvučna i skupa pojačanja.

Roma fly out for Baptista

Roma are hours away from completing their £8m swoop for Julio Baptista after directors flew out to Madrid.

The Brazilian has been linked with the club for several weeks now, but a deal had always been just beyond their capabilities.

The breakthrough comes with Marca reporting that director of sport Daniele Pradé has flown to Madrid for a final meeting with his Real counterpart Predrag Mijatovic.

He should have been in Cairo with the rest of the squad for tonight’s friendly match with Al-Ahly.

Baptista has demanded a transfer, opening the door to an £8m switch to the Giallorossi.

“Julio is not happy with the situation at Real Madrid, especially as he doesn’t want to stay on the bench anymore,” revealed agent Herminio Menendez.

“Baptista wants to work for a club where he can play. He certainly wouldn’t go to just any old side.

“Roma are a great squad and he’d be very happy to join them, but they are the ones who have to reach an agreement with Real first.”

Real signed 'The Beast' from Sevilla for £16m three years ago and were eager to sell him for no less than £10m.

Roma had offered at most £7.5m and it seems the deal will be struck at a balance of £8m.
