DIC look at Roma bid
Sheikh Mohammed looks at Serie A investment

Sheikh Mohammed has confirmed that his family are keen on buying Roma which may alter any plans they have for Liverpool.

DIC - the investment arm of Dubai Holdings which belongs to the Government of Dubai - have been trying to invest in the English giants for two years.

But they have never been able to agree terms with firstly David Moores and subsequently either of the club's American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

The huge rift between Hicks and Gillett which is currently engulfing the Anfield club had seemingly opened the way for DIC to come back in - but as yet that has not materialised.

Now Sheikh Mohammed has confirmed his family are interested in the Eternal City outfit.

Roma are owned by Italpetroli, who are linked to the Sensi family, with Franco Sensi the club's president.

A number of investors have been linked with a deal for Roma, with American George Soros said to be close to a deal last month.

But Sheikh Mohammed could now be set to step-in and make a move.

"I don't follow a lot football, but I know my family want to negotiate for Roma and that there have been contacts," Sheikh Mohammed is quoted as saying by the Gazzetta dello Sport

Fabiano future not resolved Friday 25 April, 2008



Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano has yet to sign a new deal with the Rojiblancos, alerting a string of Europe's biggest clubs, including Roma.

The Brazilian is La Liga's topscorer this season, netting 23 goals in 26 appearances for the side from Andalucía.

Speaking in the Spanish newspaper AS, his agent said: “Luis Fabiano has still not renewed his contract until 2010.”

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Roma and Giallorosso talisman Francesco Totti has already made clear his desire to see a couple of out-and-out strikers join him at Trigoria.

Speaking while recovering from an operation on his knee earlier this week, Totti said: “Two forwards should be on their way and a third will arrive once I'm fit again.

“On my return, I expect to find a stronger Roma, especially if we want to be competitive.”

Roma looking at Joaquin


Roma are in the race for Spanish star Joaquin after his agent revealed that the Valencia man is keen to leave the Mestalla.

The 26-year-old winger has made over 50 appearances for Los Che since joining them from Real Betis in 2006.

However, he has recently admitted his discontent and may join the exodus of players caused by Valencia’s financial problems.

“I cannot deny that there have been offers from Italy and the Premier League because European clubs are well aware of Valencia’s well-documented situation,” representative Eduardo Espejo explained to Marca.

“I agree with what David Villa’s agent said in the sense that players are being devalued by the situation at Valencia, but I can’t say how much the club will ask for him.”

Roma reportedly consider Joaquin to be a possible alternative for Brazilian ace Amantino Mancini should the unsettled wide man leave in the summer.

Joaquin’s buy-out clause is set at around £30m, but his owners are expected to demand around £12m.

However, a few other sides including Premier League outfit Everton are also in the frame for Joaquin’s signature.

Roma: Doni produžio ugovor, Aquilani nije na prodaju

Vratar Rome Cristiano Doni je izrazio svoje oduševljenje nakon što je produžio svoj ugovor sa tim klubom. Donijev prethodni ugovor sa Romom je istjecao na kraju sljedeće sezone, no brazilski vratar i klub su postigli dogovor, nakon kojeg su potpisali produženje suradnje do 2012. godine. U Romi u isto vrijeme čine sve što je u njihovoj moći da zadrže Alberta Aquilanija.

"Izuzetno sam sretan što sam produžio ugovor. Nikada nisam ni razmišljao o napuštanjui Rome. U klubu su pokazali svoje povjerenje prema meni i izuzetno sam ponosan zbog toga. Važno je osjećati se dijelom ovog projekta, a ja sam uvjeren da ću u dresu Rome osvajati trofeje." rekao je Doni.

Albert Aquilani, s druge strane, još uvijek nije izrazio jnu želju za ostankom u Romi, no njegov menadžer Franco Zavaglia je otkrio kako u Romi čine velike napore da ga zadrže.

Mladi je vezni nogometaš na meti brojnih klubova, uključujući madridski Real, Juventus, Milan i Inter, kao i nekoliko premierligaških klubova. Međutim, Zavaglia vjeruje kako će njegov klijent na kraju ipak ostati u Romi.

"Sensi je jasno dala do znanja da želi zadržati Aquilanija. On je igrač Rome i ne vjerujem da će klub pustiti igrače poput Aquilanija i De Rosija da odu tek tako. Da budem iskren, ne vjerujem da će ijedan od njih otići.

Nisam iznenađen da Aquilanija žele brojni europski klubovi, on to zaslužuje. Igrao je dobro ove sezone, iako je imao problema sa ozljedama. Međutim, sada se oporavio o mislim da će još igrati prije kraja sezone. Nadam se da će ići i na europsko prvenstvo." rekao je Zavaglia.

Roma skipper Totti confident of July return

Roma captain Francesco Totti says he'll be fully fit for the start of preseason training.

As he recovers from knee injury, Totti revealed: "My recovery is going very well. I have started running on the treadmill, the knee is not swollen and I hope to be back with the squad in July."
